Finally know your name!!!

    I found out what the name of this plant was that is in our planting bed near our front patio. My friend, Elaine's daughter, Kari, has some on these and told me they are called Anemones. They are so pretty. I  may dig them up in the spring and move them somewhere else 'cause they get so tall. Love the pink and green colors together, though.

Tender thoughts...

    I am sorry to say that I had to make a sympathy card fora couple in our church who lost their daughter this week to cancer. I chose a page from an old hymnal entitled "Softly and Tenderly. I used my Spellbinders to make the oval and the fleur di lis border on the side. I cuts pieces  out to make the corners. White prima flowers with the white ribbon lifted the colors a little. I used Stampin Up's "Close as a Memory" stamp set for the sentiment. I hope this card gives them a little support in their time of need.
   We are waiting for Tropical Storm Irene to come by us today. We have had rain and some wind, but nothing awful . It hasn't really come over us yet, though. We still have our power at this point.  I think I'll take some pics for my blog to remember this storm.. Hope everyone on the Eastern Seaboard is faring well.

Feathered Hope set

   This is a thank you card I made for Bette and Tommy for the wonderful veggies we have been enjoying.(See a few days earlier post). We  had zucchini in my salad for our dinner and it was so yummy....
   I used the Feather Hope set from Stampin Up since it looked like a garden setting. My copic markers helped me to add the color. I really like how the terra cotta pots came out. I put a few stickles on the flower tops to make them sparkle. It is so good to be back in my art studio/craft room again.
   Thanks again Bette & Tommy for our healthy harvest... Next year I hope to have pics of our garden, maybe...

Lucky number!

 

   This weekend we got to go see my son, Nathaniel, run in the 16th annual Breakaway 5K marathon race in Old Orchard Beach. I had never been to a race before and found it exhilarating especially since Nathaniel was running. His goal was to beat his time from his last race in the Old Port 5K.
    We got there early to get a good parking spot and waited for Nathaniel down by the Pier. We watched people sign in and get their number pennant. There were over 425 people running.

   Nathaniel was running so fast he was a blur.. Well, I think he was running fast and I was so excited my camera shook a bit. Good shot of him, though. Here are some more runners in the race.

   Nathaniel was happy with his race since he shaved off some time from his last race and made it over the finish line.....Here is a picture of him coming in... It was a great time. We hope to see Nathaniel race again... Everyone did a good job and I inspire others to get physically fit... I went home and worked in my garden and took a nap.. That counts...right?                                                                         

Nature's Bounty

 

   My husband's sister, Bette, and her husband, Tommy have a lovely garden in Phippsburg. They invited us to "raid" it this past week. So we drove down with our basket and filled it with goodies.

   The garden is quite big with tomato plants, squash, beans, zucchini, beets, and more. Their garden is an inspiration  for us to start one next year. We won't plant one quite as big, but hope to have many of the vegetables that they have grown.  Tommy has been giving us planting tips especially on the tomatoes which looked fabulous. We ate the beans and while they were cooking our kitchen was filled with the scent of summer. We all loved it. We are so thankful for having such generous relatives. Thanks Bette and Tommy!

It's So Good to be Back!!!

   I am finally back to my blogging. We have been dealing with the move to our new house... Which we absolutely LOVE, by the way, that I didn't even think of blogging for a little while.. Then when I was super anxious to blog to everyone.... our hard drive started to die... Oh no.. Thank goodness Casco Bay Micro in Freeport saved the day.. They are terrific.. They copied everything from our hard drive onto the new hard drive... It really teaches you to save/ back up your computer... They charged less than two hundred, too. So anyway, here are some pictures of my NEW art studio...

Happy Birthday, Tom!

                                                      I just love my new home and my art studio...It's so much bigger and better than my old one..I even got to make a card for my brother-in-law, Tom. It was his birthday this week and I know he loves all things Disney, so I used that to make this card. I think he really liked it.. The Mickey  hand was a gift from his wife that will hold his business cards at work. Neat, huh?
   Even with moving we took time out to
go the the Cumberland Craft Fair last week.
Ezra, my sister's grandson, went, too. I love this
picture of him with the lambs... So cute...

   It's good to be back blogging about all that is going on in my life. Hope to continue my journey in our new home in Yarmouth, Maine. I'll be showing more pictures of our home and our gardens. Stay tune...

   Well, I finally had to "bite the bullet" and pack my craftroom. No more cardmaking, scrapbooking, or papercrafting for a little while.. Boo Hoo... Here's some pictures of my fabulous room before my sister, Chris and I demolished it.. I mean packed it.
Oh well, I will be setting my craftroom up in a cool place. I will post pictures while I am setting up and
when it is completed. I can't wait.. My sister, Chris volunteered to help me set it up.. What a nice sister... Here are a couple of
pictures of my craftroom after we finished the packing. The big furniture will be picked up by a moving company. Hope it's not too hot when we move all the boxes...

Don't look, Rochelle!!

   Russ and I , along with my mom and my sister, Rochelle and her husband, Mark went to spend the day at our friend, Cindy and Dave's camp in Limington, Maine at the Lake. I'd tell you the name of the lake,but I am not sure I can spell it.. I'll give it a try: Lake Pequawett. I know that's not right,but hopefully it's close.
   We had a great time. The weather was perfect and the food was awesome. Dave grilled steak tips from the Steak House in Scarborough. Yummy....

Is that life jacket too small?

   We sat on the little beach out in front of their camp. Cindy and Dave have alot of lake gear: kayaks, canoe, and flotation items. Mark decided to use a kayak to go out towards the middle of the lake. His oar hit his glasses and as he attempted to catch them, over he went. Lost his glasses to the bottom of the lake. As the guys tried to retrieve them with diving trips to the bottom. We girls got a boat ride from Cindy's friend, Nancy. She can drive/steer a boat. What a boat ride!  Later, Nancy showed us her embroidery work on a child's quilt. Absolutely gorgeous. She sells them... wish I knew a little one that would love one of these beauties.

   It was a great day... We were all pooped from enjoying this funtime.  It's back to the grindstone today. More packing... for our upcoming move to Yarmouth.

For Rochelle...

   I did finish my sister, Rochelle's birthday card last night. Since I am packing up my craftroom today, I wanted to finish all my birthday cards that I need for this month.Who knows how long before I get my craftroom up and running in Yarmouth. SO ROCHELLE, DON'T LOOK!
   I used my Just Rite stamp for the "Happy Birthday" circle, and I used the Kindness set with Spellbinder's new die cut for around the "Happy Birthday" circle. I embossed the design in white. Blue gems finish the look.
  Just Rite has a new stamp set called "Forever Friends". I love the "Sisters Forever" stamp. It's perfect here.... The book die cut is from Spellbinders, too.
   I used Martha Stewart's punch around the page to surround the card. Prima flowers and a butterfly embellish the card. Love the bling on the butterfly.
   This is a stand up card where I used Tim Holtz's brace die cut on the back. Can't wait to give it to her.
   Well, I guess I have to start packing. I will be blogging about the move since my card making "stuff" will be in boxes. I hope all goes smoothly.
